NUS placed 27th in Times Higher Education Ranking
The National University of Singapore has placed 27th in Times Higher Education's ranking of the world's most reputable universities.
Based on the ranking, the university was third in Asia, coming in after Japan's University of Tokyo (8th) and the Kyoto University (18th).
After the 50th spot on the list, universities were bunched in groups of 10 and listed in alphabetical order. Singapore's Nanyang Technological University was grouped between 91-100. Singapore Management University was unranked because it is considered a specialised university.
The World Reputation Rankings is based exclusively on universities' standing among experienced academics all over the globe, based on their view on the strength of the institutions' teaching and research.
It surveyed 13,388 experienced academics from 131 countries around the world.
American universities dominated the list with seven in the top 10 and 45 in the top 100, with Harvard University topping the ranking.
The UK had 12 universities in the top 100, followed by Japan with five, and Canada, Australia, Germany and the Netherlands with four each.
