Construction and Property Development

More qualified professional talent is needed in the field of construction and property development as there is now a need to create energy efficient buildings using materials which do not deplete the Earth’s natural resources. As such, new roles in design and conceptualisation, cost estimation and facilities management have recently become more prominent in the construction and property development sector.

Career development
One of the benefits of being employed in Singapore is the government’s ongoing initiative to constantly train and retrain graduates and employees to prepare them for current and future careers, enhancing workforce development and increasing citizens’ employability. In the case of the construction and property development sector, the Workforce Development Agency (WDA) , which is part of the Ministry of Manpower, is always on hand to guide interested individuals on their career path. For example, a graduate who is interested in quantity surveying can approach the WDA to obtain the specialist diploma in building and cost management under the professional conversion programme (PCP) to start off as an assistant quantity surveyor before moving up the ranks.
